Welcome
Cultural association Cantosospeso,
choir Cantosospeso
Milan, Italy

The Cultural Association Cantosospeso does not only owe it's name to Luigi Nono but also an idea, a necessity and ... a dream. ("Sospeso" in italian means both "floating" and "suspended").
All of those songs, dreams and viewpoints which a countless number of cultures have created, and which are suspended, in danger of being forgotten, since deprived of the means of existence .
Similarly all of those people who are slowly dying out, suppressed by technological development, cultural colonialism and rigid market laws are suspended. So are those ways of thinking and doing research in the "First World" which the dominant values suffocate. These are the so called "loser cultures". But can we really call "winner cultures" those cultures which in winning lose their ability to maintain diversity?
Our Association's necessity is to give voice, time and space to the preservation of the memory of these cultures, thus keeping alive diverse world views. We believe that this is possible through song, given that singing is a game, a growth process involving learning to be in harmony with others in mutual respect . Singing in a choir is an act, involving "learning through doing": a sensitizing pleasure and a vital emotion.
The Association has created a "practical school" for anybody who wishes to learn to sing in a choir. There is a section dedicated to small children. Perhaps they, more than adults, are allured by the voice.
The Association organizes seminars and study groups on artistic and cultural themes, so we can get to know more about as many worlds as possible.
Cantosospeso is a dream of a world with thousands of faces, thouands of colours and thousands of songs.

The Association Cantosospeso would like to contact choirs throughout the world to talk and - why not? - to work together.
Unfortunately , at the moment we are not able to provide a full multi-language site. If you want more details: about the association , about it’s choirs, or about the repertoire (comprising a thousand pieces of choral music, including ethnic, African, Brasilian, South-American, ancient, baroque and classical music), write to us at this address: cantosospeso@freeweb.org

If you have problems in consulting the site write to the address fabioturone@zadig.it.
